Desk Study assessments enable us to tailor your investigation, along with the information you provide, enabling a lower cost investigation nevertheless still providing you with all the necessary detail, information and advice you need to take your project forward. You do not require them, however, in certain circumstances we will strongly advise one is undertaken and on occasions it will be necessary.
Site Investigations are intrusive and can be disruptive, the design of these investigations require understanding of the required outcomes be that foundation advice, contaminated land assessment, slope stability, permeability properties or a combination of all.
We endeavour to minimise this disruption by designing the most appropriate investigation for the site and outcome required with the information available, instructed and provided. We have considerable experience in all the principal investigatory methods:
GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION
Trial pitting, cable percussion boring, rotary open and rotary corehole and windowless sampling in addition we are able to determine requirements and develop investigations with additional methodologes including wireline, GPR, in situ testing and sampling.
Post site site investigation monitoring for groundwater, landfill gas, coal gases, sampling of groundwater, surface water and borehole gas monitoring and the monitoring of slope stability using inclinometer installations may also be required and advised upon prior to the investigations.
In situ testing for earthworks compliance along with site monitoring during earthworks placement. In situ plate bearing testing and dummy / zone foundation tests.
Geotechnical Design Advice enables the required outcomes to be achieved and can range from simple foundation advice to complex multiple advice solutions across a range of requirements including:

Shallow Foundation - spread, strip or raft foundation solutions, validation of third party assessments .

Deep Foundations - a variety of piled solutions, assessments, validation of third party assessments, post installation monitoring, plate and zone foundation assessments.

Slope Stability - surveys, assessments, design and validation.

Ground improvement - mine adit / shaft underground mining, vibrofloatation; location, assessment, remidiation.

Groundwater & Flood risk assessment and advice.

Buried Concrete - testing, assessment and advice.

All of our reports are produced to a professional and high standard, issued initially as a "draft" and upon completion as a "final" report. Additional report formats are available upon request.
